Chris Bennett Art

Chris gained a B.A.(hons) at Sheffield School of Art and Design where her figurative work, executed mainly in oils on canvas, are of life studies and still life.
Some paintings were of discarded or broken items where she sought to highlight the intrinsic beauty of something rejected and give it new meaning.
Other pieces encouraged the viewer to see afresh the ‘humdrum and accepted’ with a new perspective and sometimes a sense of humour. We notice this in her studies of women.

encourage and inspire

Recognition of value is something she endeavors to do working alongside a wide variety of people including disadvantaged groups where she uses art to uplift and reveal the unnoticed.

To see afresh something that is broken or rejected and to focus on new found merits or worth is a theme that has continued throughout her
work. This undoubtedly was the inspiration behind the ‘Skins’ as we see a successful blending of otherwise incongruous elements: tenderness and rebllion as personified within the figures.

Her motivation to see the positive in situations has inspired her to use art to work with a range of people including disadvantaged groups
where she helps to encourage and build confidence.
